Himachal News: Government Employees Excluded from Himcare Scheme, Strict Action Ordered by Administration

The Himcare scheme has been excluded to most of the national government workers and their family members. Nevertheless, there are various government employees who are still benefiting through the scheme.

Prabodh Saxena, who is the Chief Secretary of the state has directed the officials to gather information about such employees and make strict move against them. As it has been clarified by the state government, the benefits of Himcare entitlement should be enjoyed by deserving families only. Government employees do not deserve to be provided with Himcare benefits since they are already availed with some medical reimbursement privilege provided by the government.

A meeting that was chaired by the Chief Secretary took place on Thursday to discuss the services and benefits offered on the Himcare scheme, roles which the concerned officials would play and the problems faced. The meeting was also attended by the officials of the Finance Department, Rural Development Department and Health Department.

The Himcare scheme also spoke about liabilities. It came out that there are about 5.3 lakh registered Himcare families in the state. Currently, the scheme owes 350 crore rupees with 100 crore rupees of it going to the private hospitals.

The government has pegged a yearly issuance and renewal fee of 1000 rupees of the Himcare card. The plan offers up to 5 lakh cashless treatment. Various packages apply to different kinds of illnesses.
