Antibiotic Drug Sample Fails, Company Issued Notice, Stock of Six Chemists Sealed; Sample Taken in Chamba

One batch of an antibiotic drug, which is commonly distributed to take care of patients during the rainy season, has not passed quality tests. Health Department has sealed the supply of this medicine these six chemists are holding and advised them not to supply it to any patient. The manufacturing company has also received a notice, to produce the drug quality test report. In the absence of this report, the company will not be in a position to sell its medicine in the market. This drug is the one that has been prescribed by doctors in treating viral fever.

Only a few days back a group of the Health Department had sampled a stock of Amoxicillin Cloxacillin and Lactic Acid Bacillus Capsules in the shop of a drug-seller located in Banikhet. This drug (July 2024) has a batch number CB 24056. The sample reached the laboratory of the department where it could not pass the quality verification.

When the report was received, then the department acted by sealing the stock of that drug seller. They also wanted to know other chemists who dealt with the medicine in the district by getting the information out of him. It followed up the raids, after which the remaining stock in the chemists shops in question were sealed. A company headquartered at the Haryana produces the drug. The State Drug Controller there too has been placed in the picture so that it is possible to nip the sale of this medicine in that state, too.

The sample of the antibiotic drug is not good. Stocks have been hermetized. The company has been posted a notice. Upon the response of the company, further action will be provided.
