Just before the campaigning for the Jalandhar West assembly bypoll ended on Monday, the Punjab BJP accused the AAP of threatening the industrialists and traders and coercing them to ask their workers to vote in favour of the party on July 10. The Punjab BJP said chief minister Bhagwant Mann was staring at a defeat and was stooping low to garner votes for his party.Addressing a press conference here, BJP state general secretary Anil Sarin alleged that industry and traders had been threatened through different govt departments to ensure that their workers hailing from Jalandhar West vote for the AAP.

“They have been told if their workers would not vote for the AAP then locks would be put on their industries,” claimed Sarin.

The BJP leader said they were in possession of lists prepared by the ruling party of the workers in different industrial and trade houses. “Total number of workers in such lists is 10,770 and there could be more. This is an unprecedented level of arm twisting the people. Never ever a govt stooped so low to win a byelection,” he said. Sarin said if the state govt would harass the industrialists and traders, the BJP would protect them.
