Haryana civil aviation minister Kamal Gupta on Wednesday said that the construction work of a domestic airport at Ambala Cantonment is ongoing, and the first flight to Ayodhya would start from August itself.
Minister Gupta, accompanied by ex-home minister Anil Vij, visited the construction site of the Ambala civil enclave on Wednesday. During his visit, the minister enquired about the progress of the construction work from PWD officials as well as the other concerned agencies, and instructed them to complete the work on time.The minister said he will inspect the site again on Aug 10, and all works related to water, electricity, sewage and others should be completed by then.
Talking to the media, minister Kamal Gupta said, “Inspection was done in the recent past also. We also spoke to Air Force officials about the runway. Our intention is that the planes should take off from here soon. The first flight would be from Ambala to Ayodhya, and later flights would operate from Ambala to Jammu and other places. We shall expand the network ion the coming months.”
