In Maharajganj, Uttar Pradesh, a schoolgirl and a NCC cadet was duped on the excuse of securing her a job in the Indian Army. A network of lies was created, beginning with forged training to a forged joining letter, which later on resulted in a big party at her house. The family and neighbours who did not realize the truth sang and danced in a patriotic procession around the neighbourhood with garlands and cheers when the girl was marched round the neighbourhood as a new recruit. However, the news about the reality of her so-called confirmed job caused the joy to replace the atmosphere of fear and shock. The student has got a complaint against two conmen now.
Fraud by cheating a 12 th -grade student in the name of Army recruitment.
Nagma, a 12th-grade student of Doma village in Nichlaul police station and an NCC cadet in Krishak Inter College was the victim of this scam. In the police statement, she disclosed that she had met a man called Dheeraj in August, in an NCC firing training camp, at Mathlar, Salempur. As they were talking carelessly, Dheeraj bragged about being influential and assured her of her being recruited into the Indian Army.
Nagma was called at Gorakhpur in September by Dheeraj after the training. She went to the bus station where he accepted her and gave her an army uniform. Two days after that, she was brought to an open field where a simulated physical examination (running) followed and five girls and six boys attended. After that, medical examination was also planned. In the process, Dheeraj had asked Nagma to pay 2.7 lakh.
The Fraud extended between Maharajganj and Gorakhpur and Even Rajasthan.
When Nagma agreed to pay she was brought to Pushkar, in Rajasthan, to visit an associate of Dheeraj, Angad Mishra. Angad also assured her that she would be issued with an official confirmed joining letter immediately the payment was made. Nagma was later sent a forged joining letter which she thinks was real. Her family was so excited by what they thought was a success that when she got home with the forged document, they made it a big celebration without knowing that it is a fraud.
Once the truth emerged, Nagma filed FIR in the Nichlaul police station against Dheeraj and Angad Mishra claiming they cheated and forged. The accused has been hunted by the police who have initiated an investigation.
Grand Welcome Becomes Shock.
Her family was more than happy when Nagma came to her village in the army uniform. The villagers celebrated, they were proud because they thought that she was chosen in the Indian Army. Nagma was riding in a sunroof vehicle, wearing garlands and she greeted everybody with the songs playing in the background which were patriotic. A convoy of motor vehicles was trailing behind as the flowers were thrown over her head.
But, in a few hours, the dirty truth came out – the joining letter and recruitment were forgeries. The whole celebration resulted in shock and even pain, as the family and the community got shocked.
