From Friday onwards, new patients will have the option to book online appointments with PGI doctors at the Advanced Eye Centre (AEC). Started in a phased manner, online appointments will be rolled out for other departments in the institute soon.
“We will have a slot for 200 patients for a week in advance. This will be only for new patients now, and subsequently, with the Hospital Information System 2, we will expand it to follow-up cases too,” said Prof S S Pandav, head of the AEC.
Around 1,500 patients visit the AEC daily, out of which around 400 are new patients.“We will tie up with the e-sampark centres too for the online registration or there can be onsite registration too for those who do not have access to the online facility,” said Prof Pandav. Online appointment slots are being opened to avoid unnecessary waiting in the queues.
