Dengue cases are rising swiftly this rainy season, with the health department reporting more than 285 cases in the district so far.
The department is on high alert and has begun implementing various measures to address the increase in cases.
The officials of the health department said earlier, dengue cases were being reported coming from Surajpur and Pinjore area, but since the implementation of source reduction activities, dengue cases have been contained in both the areas.
Now, fresh cases are mostly being reported from urban area of the city, including Sector 6, 15, and 16.
With rise in the number of cases, residents are urging the municipal corporation and the health department to take preventive action. The health department is visiting all the affected areas and checking parks and houses in the urban area.
Apart from this, following the health department’s letter to Panchkula municipal corporation and Kalka municipal council, the authorities have begun the fogging process in respective areas.
While issuing an advisory to the public, health department officials requested the public to wear full sleeves clothes, clear standing water around their houses and locality and cover utensils filled with water. Dengue mosquito breeds in fresh water and taking preventive steps can help curb the disease, said the officials.
Apart from this, various teams of the health department conducting door-to-door visit to check dengue and malaria larvae have issued around 2,000 notices in the district so far.
Cross-Border meeting to plan dengue strategy,
The officials said to curb dengue and malaria cases in the district, a cross-border meeting with the health department of neighbouring states would be called to plan a strategy to fight against this disease.
