Former deputy chief minister Dushyant Chautala took a dig at Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini on Sunday amid confusion about the CM’s constituency in the assembly election. “Saini has become a ‘kati patang’ with no clear direction, as no one knows whether he will land in Karnal, Ladwa, or Naraingarh to contest the assembly election,” said Dushyant.
He also expressed surprise that the BJP, which has been in power at the Centre and in Haryana for 10 years, lacks confidence in its own leaders, resulting in repeated meetings without any consensus on candidate selection. The JJP leader pointed out that when the chief minister’s seat is still undecided and other BJP candidates have been left to their fate.
Dushyant said that he had challenged the chief minister on social media to contest from Karnal, but there is speculation that the CM is looking for a safe seat, oscillating between Kurukshetra district’s Ladwa, Ambala district’s Naraingarh, and even considering seats in Gurgaon and Faridabad. He said that wherever the ‘kati patang’ lands, people will hold him accountable for the chaos and directionless governance of the past six months by defeating him.
Addressing a meeting of JJP workers in Uchana, Dushyant reaffirmed his commitment to the constituency, noting that he has been contesting from Uchana assembly seat since 2014 and remains dedicated to the people there.
He recalled that late Jannayak Chaudhary Devi Lal, alongside Kanshi Ram, fought to secure the Bharat Ratna for BR Ambedkar, which was awarded in 1990. Dushyant urged JJP and its alliance partner Azad Samaj Party workers to unite and work diligently for the next 35 days to establish a farmer-labourer government in the state.
