A fatal accident struck Delhi at dawn on Friday after heavy rainfalls occurred. Four members of the same family died when three children along with their mother became victims of a fatal event. The fatal incident reportedly took place in Dwarka located within Delhi. A powerful storm and heavy rain caused a tree to crash over a house and thus killed all those trapped inside.
The tree smashed into a tubewell room which stood in a field territory of Kharkhari Nahar village. The enclosed room housed five occupants who suffered fatal consequences with only the survivor being a person with minor injuries. The deceased individuals consist of Jyoti who was 26 years old and her three children. The tree injury brought only minor injuries to Ajay but resulted in the deaths of four his family members.
Reports of fallen trees and electric poles have come from several areas in Delhi, Noida, and Ghaziabad due to strong winds. Waterlogging on the roads has severely disrupted traffic. The Meteorological Department has advised citizens to stay indoors and avoid unnecessary travel. People are also warned to stay away from weak structures and avoid taking shelter in open spaces due to the risk of lightning. A red alert has been issued for Delhi-NCR due to the forecast of heavy rain and storms.
Red Alert Issued Amid Storm Warning
The powerful wind gusts have caused multiple instances of fallen trees alongside ripped electric poles across Delhi along with Noida and Ghaziabad. The roads have become submerged to such an extent that traffic has been heavily disabled. The Meteorological Department has ordered people to remain indoors and limit their movement outside. The meteorological department warns citizens to steer clear from weak constructions and refrain from finding protection in exposed outdoor areas since lightning poses a clear threat. A red alert currently exists in Delhi-NCR due to expected heavy rainfall together with storm systems.
Flight and Train Delays Due to Bad Weather
Strong winds within Delhi resulted in part of a metal shed collapsing at Indira Gandhi International Airport during the early hours. Many flight operations were affected. Flights dealing with 120 delays occurred throughout the morning hours due to combined effects of dust storms and heavy precipitation. The service disruption at Indira Gandhi International Airport occurred due to challenging weather factors as Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) reported. The airline company Air India verified that aviation operations throughout Northern India sections were disrupted. Several train services experienced delays because of more than 25 delayed train routes.
