There is a severe daylight murder in a heavily populated Una district of Himachal Pradesh where a youth is killed in a broad daylight. The case took place at Upper Basal which is under Una police station. The assailants are said to have fired four shots to the young boy, three of which hit him. The shooters who rode motorcycles escaped after the shooting.
Seriously wounded victim was rushed to the regional hospital in Una by local residents, however, died before arriving at it. Medics in the hospital pronounced him dead. The community is shocked because of the afternoon Sunday broad-daylight shooting in Upper Basal.
Victim Was Getting a Haircut in a Salon
The dead person is recognised as Rakesh Kumar alias Gaggi who lived in the Upper Arniyala. He was in a local salon taking a haircut when he was shot dead by unidentified assailants. As per the information, Rakesh along with a friend had rushed to the salon in the Upper Basal. In the process of haircutting, two helmeted attackers came into the shop on a motorbike and shot him several times. As soon as the attackers encountered it, they ran out of the scene.
Bullet Below the Ear Caused Skull to Shatter
Rakesh, the one, who fell seriously injured, died on the spot, as doctors reported at the regional hospital in Una. The medical team believes that he was wounded with a bullet that hit slightly below his ear, his skull then shattered and he instantly died. He was shot yet another bullet in the leg.
Police Gather Evidence from the Crime Scene; SP Arrives
The Sadar Police was at the scene and they had started the investigation as soon as the police got the information. They have gathered evidence and they are examining the CCTV footage around. Una Superintendent of Police Amit Yadav reached the site on foot to enquire on the situation.
Old Enmity and Liquor Trade Linked to the Case
Although, the precise reason as to why the murder took place is yet to be known, considering the gravity of the issue, the police have created blockades in the locality and increased the search effort on the suspects. There have been speculations of the shooting being caused by an old rivalry. The local liquor trade is also being associated to the case.
Law and Order Situation Worsening in Una
There are considerable problems of law and order in Una that borders Punjab. Last week they seized a country-made Pistol on the person of a young man in Peernighah. Although the police played their part in the scenario, a number of people in the district have been found in the illegal possession of arms, therefore, causing disturbance to peace in the area.
