One such alarming story has come to light in the Palakkad district of Kerala, whereby a 26 year old woman called Vaishnavi was allegedly killed by her husband (Dixit). The police said that the case initially seemed to be a normal death but the post-mortem report brought to light the ugly reality.
Reports by news agencies indicate that the incident occurred on the early morning hours on Friday in the Sreekrishnapuram police station locality. According to the police, Dixit called his father in law and told him that his wife had just fallen and was admitted in the hospital, where she was declared dead by the doctors.
The way the lie of the husband was revealed.
The family developed some suspicion about what Dixit told them and ordered post-mortem examination. During the autopsy of Vaishnavi at the Thrissur Medical College Hospital, she was discovered dead by being strangled.
The accused husband had admitted during the police interrogation that the two had an argument over a domestic dispute and he was furious and in a frenzy, strangled his wife. It also emerged that the couple got married a year and a half ago through love marriage but their relationship had turned sour soon after the marriage.
The husband was arrested
Police said that the accused attempted to present the murder as a natural death after the murder took place. The truth was, however, discovered by the vigilance of the family and the results of the post-mortem report. Dixit has been registered on a case under several provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and has been arrested.
The event has elicited anger amongst the locals and various women associations have called out to have the suspect punished.
