IAS Officer Makes Major English Error, Trolled on Social Media

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) recently declared its outcome for various examinations. During this period an IAS official posted his story about UPSC results through social media channels. Through his post the officer created an accidental mistake that now leads to online trolls targeting him. IAS officer Ram Prakash posted on X (Twitter) that his message spread widely across the platform and prompted various user responses.

IAS officer Ram Prakash passed the UPSC exam on April 27, 2018 and offered his candid account for the occasion of the 2025 UPSC result.

IAS Officer’s Grammatical Mistake in English

Ram Prakash shared his experience when he learned he had passed UPSC on 27 April 2018 at 8 PM while it had been seven years since he kept his achievement secret from everyone including his loved ones. He made his mistake during this statement: “I didn’t told anyone.” A proper usage of English would have required the sentence to read “I didn’t tell anyone.” Numerous social media users detected the grammatical mistake in the post and provided the correct form. After recognizing his mistake the official accepted it completely.

Public Reaction to the English Error

A social media user posted the IAS officer’s message while questioning if the nation’s future will decline when they see his English ability. Users have strongly supported the IAS officer despite his insufficient grasp of English according to one commenter who declared that he is an IAS officer rather than an English teacher. The Prime Minister of our country also lacks fluent English skills. The citizens from nations which the British Empire did not colonize usually have imperfect command of the English language. Stop making fun of him.”
