If you have been waiting to get your child admitted to school, now is the time to get ready. Yes, the admission dates are approaching. The process for nursery, KG, and Class 1 admissions in Delhi’s private schools is set to begin from 4 December 2025. The Directorate of Education (DoE) has issued detailed guidelines for the 2026–27 academic session. The process has been designed to be transparent and parent-friendly to reduce the stress associated with admissions.
Complete Transparency to Be Ensured in Admissions
The Directorate has instructed all schools to maintain complete transparency during the admission process. Whether the selection happens through a computerised draw or the traditional paper slip method, the lottery will be conducted in the presence of parents. The first admission list will be released on 23 January 2026, while the second list will be out on 9 February 2026. This process applies to 75% of seats in the general category. Separate guidelines will be issued for EWS and disadvantaged groups. Schools can charge only ₹25 as the registration fee, and purchasing a prospectus will be entirely optional. Schools must inform parents about the draw date and time at least two days in advance through their website, notice board, or email.
