Tuesday a block primary education officer (BPEO) in Moga region of the Punjab was suspended following a video clip of him dancing with his wife in his office that viral in the social media.
The Punjab government later named the officer as Devi Prasad who was stationed in Baghapurana sub-division. The education department in a statement stated that Prasad is suspended because of his misdemeanor in viral video and education secretary Anindita Mitra took the decision at the intervention of education minister Harjot Singh Bains.
Bains said, strict action will be taken against any official who will be violating rules or whose duties will not be timely fulfilled.
A deputy commissioner of Moga, Sagar Setia reportedly stated that a showcause notice was issued to Prasad once the video appeared. The one minute video, which was subsequently made viral on the internet, features the officer along with his wife dancing to the tune of a Bollywood song, Tum roothi raho, main manata rahun, ki inn adaayon pe aur pyaar aata hai.
