Punjab & Haryana witness intense rainfall

Heavy rainfall affected several regions in Punjab and Haryana on Thursday, providing relief from the humid weather conditions.

IMD reported that the rains caused the minimum temperatures in both states to drop two to four degrees below normal.

Several areas, including Moga, Tarn Taran, Bathinda, Ferozepur, Faridkot, and Ambala, received significant rainfall.

The heavy downpour led to waterlogging in many parts of Bathinda, Faridkot, and Moga districts in Punjab.

According to the meteorological department‘s report, which covered the 24-hour period ending at 8:30 am, Pathankot received 157.2 mm of rainfall, followed by Amritsar with 90.2 mm, Gurdaspur with 40.7 mm, and Patiala with 31.6 mm.

In Haryana, Ambala recorded the highest rainfall at 140.8 mm during the same period.
Other notable rainfall amounts included Bhiwani with 69.7 mm, Narnaul with 57 mm, Hisar with 40.6 mm, Rohtak with 39.6 mm, Karnal with 38.2 mm, and Sirsa with 21 mm.  Chandigarh, which serves as the shared capital of both Punjab and Haryana, experienced 23.8 mm of rainfall during this time.
