On the second day of the Assembly session, MLAs from both treasury benches and opposition parties raised issues pertaining to farmers and health infrastructure in the state, including preparedness for the paddy procurement and shortage of medical staff.
Abohar MLA Sandeep Jakhar raised the issue of possible diammonium phosphate (DAP) shortage during the upcoming wheat season and claimed that Rs 290 crore given by the Centre to Punjab for crop diversification had lapsed.Raising the issue of rice millers in the state, Congress MLA Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa said the rice stocks of previous years had not been moved out of Punjab and could create problems of storage space when paddy produce for the season is procured.
Leader of opposition Partap Singh Bajwa demanded that an all-party delegation should meet farmers camping in Chandigarh.
