The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) has arrested three people in connection with the alleged fraudulent allocation of industrial plots by the Punjab Small Industries and Export Corporation Limited (PSIEC).
The arrested individuals include two retired estate officers, Darshan Kumar alias Darshan Garg and Amarjit Singh, besides senior assistant Vijay Kumar Gupta.
According to an official spokesperson for the vigilance bureau, the arrests followed the accused’s surrender in the court of the chief judicial magistrate (CJM) in Mohali.
A case had previously been registered on March 8, under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Prevention of Corruption Act at the VB police station, Flying Squad-1, Punjab, in Mohali, said the spokesperson.
The spokesperson alleged that the accused officials, in collusion with others, had engaged in irregularities during the allotment of industrial plots by using bogus buyers, fake addresses, and fictitious firms. The investigation is ongoing, the spokesperson added.
