The Punjab government has released an amount of Rs. 33.65 crores for nutritious food supplied through Anganwadi Centres.
Providing information in this regard, Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur said that the supply of nutritional items to the beneficiaries in Anganwadi centres of the state is being done through Markfed. Under the Supplementary Nutrition Program Scheme, the supply made by Markfed during the current financial year has been paid. She has instructed the concerned district program officers to use the funds as per the Government rules.
Dr. Baljit Kaur said that Rs. 4.17 crores to Amritsar district, Rs. 65.94 lakhs to Barnala, Rs. 2.28 crores to Bathinda, Rs. 40.22 lakhs to Faridkot, Rs. 4.35 crores and Rs. 5.99 lakhs (Cooking Coast) to Fazilka , Rs. 4 crores and Rs. 4.69 lakhs (Cooking Coast) to Ferozepur, Rs. 1.56 crore to Gurdaspur, Rs. 5 crores to Hoshiarpur, Rs. 2.51 crores to Jalandhar, Rs. 97.48 lakhs to Ludhiana, Rs. 97.33 lakhs to Mansa, Rs. 50 lakhs to Moga, Rs. 92 lakhs to Ropar, Rs. 3.07 crores to Sangrur and Rs. 2.14 crores to Kapurthala have been allocated .
Dr. Baljit Kaur mentioned that the government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, is consistently striving for the welfare of the people of the state and special attention is being paid to children, pregnant women and lactating mothers is committed to their welfare.
