Three Soldiers Martyred in an Encounter with Terrorists in Kathua, Jammu & Kashmir

Under the direction of the Jammu & Kashmir Police’s Special Operations Group (SOG), a special operation was initiated. Team members from the Army, BSF, and CRPF participated in the operation. During the incident, officials reported heavy gunfire and explosives.

Three soldiers were killed in a clash between security forces and militants in Jammu & Kashmir’s Kathua area, while two terrorists were slain. Seven people are being held by the police for interrogation on suspicion of supporting the terrorists.

The conflict began in the morning of March 27 in the Ghati Juthana region’s Jakhol village, which is part of the Rajbagh area. Authorities reported heavy explosions and gunshots. Teams from the Army, BSF, and CRPF assisted in the operation, which was headed by the Jammu & Kashmir Police’s Special Operations Group (SOG). Five officers were initially hurt in the conflict. Three of them had later been declared dead from their wounds.

The Indian Express said that neither the police nor the security forces have yet to provide an official confirmation. One of the police officers killed, however, was a selection-grade constable, according to sources.

According to the information, a group of approximately six terrorists recently crossed the international border from Pakistan. A local couple named Ganesh and his wife Jyoti first noticed the gang in the jungles of Sanyal village, which is close to the international border, on the evening of March 23 (Sunday). Seven people have been taken into custody by the police to be questioned in this matter.

It is believed that these people helped the terrorists. Some of them have reportedly assisted terrorists in crossing the border in the past. In 2024, a number of them were also arrested for interrogation.
