Uttar Pradesh Scorched by Severe Heat, IMD Issues Alert for 9 Districts

Extreme heat is currently plaguing Uttar Pradesh. Nine districts in the state are under a heatwave alert issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD). Children and the elderly have been reminded to exercise extra caution. At the same time, the local government has started to get ready.

Even though April has just begun, Uttar Pradesh’s intense heat is already become intolerable. People are being forced to stay indoors due to the extreme heat of the sun. Worries have increased as a result of the weather department’s forecast. This is only the beginning, as the IMD predicts additional severe heatwaves in the days ahead. The capital, Lucknow, is among the several locations where temperatures have already risen to about 40°C.

People are being urged to remain vigilant as the forecast calls for sustained high heat.

Prayagraj was the warmest district in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday, with a temperature of 41.4°C, the highest so far this season, according to a report by Aaj Tak. Prayagraj is not alone, though; temperatures above 40°C have also been recorded at Varanasi, Ballia, Fatehpur, Sultanpur, Ayodhya, Jhansi, and Hamirpur. In these nine districts of Uttar Pradesh, the IMD has issued a heatwave warning for April 8 and 9.

Heatwave Alert Issued for These 9 Districts:

Hot winds are predicted to blow through the following areas: Ghaziabad, Hapur, Gautam Buddh Nagar, Bulandshahr, Aligarh, Mathura, Hathras, Agra, and Firozabad. Children and the elderly have been advised to take extra care. Aaj Tak was informed by meteorologist Atul Singh that the heat will not be alleviated for the next two days. After April 8, things might start to change, but it’s still going to be hot.

The administration is on high alert in reaction to the heatwave alarm. Hospitals have been directed to keep sufficient supplies of medications relevant to heat-associated illnesses, and medical and disaster management teams have been mobilised.b

Severe Conditions in Lucknow

One of the most severely impacted cities is Lucknow. Because it was 38°C on Sunday, people refrained from going outside, even though it was the weekend. Even darkness did not alleviate the situation. Within the next two days, the temperature in Lucknow is also predicted to surpass 40°C, according to Atul Singh. This summer could be hotter than last year, according to weather estimates.
