The villagers on Monday locked a Jind school after they had confronted a teacher for the allged act of grabbing a girl’s hand and found the principal drunken when he was called. They want a change of entire staff.
The hand-grabbing is alleged to have happened inside a classroom. The harassed student reported it to her parents, who came to the school and confronted the teacher.Enraged villagers then cordoned the school and said it will stay locked until a total change of staff and environment. They accused the principal as well of being a bad influence on the students.
The villagers asked the education department to punish the accused teacher and the principal, and then replace the staff for the students’ safety. A team from the Jind Sadar police station got there with the duty magistrate and managed to pacify the villagers. However, the harassed girl is yet to lodge a formal complaint. Jind Sadar station house officer (SHO) Sunil Kumar said: “It’s up to the education department to replace the staff.”
