The Joint Committee of Parliament (JCP) panel on the Waqf (Amendment) Bill has finaly accepted the report on Wednesday. The amended version with 15-11 votes was confirmed by the chairperson Jagdambika Pal.

Opposition the adoption of the Draft Report, opposition members stated that it was “unconstitutional” and also mentioned that this will result in the Waqf board to be undermine through governmental interference in Muslim religious affairs, reported news agency PTI.
Accepting the bill, Jagdambika Pal mentioned that this bill is drafted and aimed to enhance the Waqf board’s transparency and effectiveness.
