In a joint operation, Jalandhar rural police and the anti-gangster task force (AGTF) arrested a woman, her daughter and their driver for trading in heroin.
The woman is facing 17 cases and is also wanted by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB). The joint team seized Rs 1.12 lakh in drug money, gold ornaments, and a vehicle used in drug trafficking operations, police said.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Rano, resident of Patti Takhar Shankar village; her daughter Baljinder Kaur, resident of Langroa village in Nawanshahr; and their driver, Sukhdev alias Dani.
Jalandhar rural SSP H P S Khakh said Rano, identified as a key player in heroin trafficking, was wanted in a case registered by NCB, Chandigarh. She had received heroin from Akshay Chhabra, who delivered the drugs through Ajay Kumar alias Gora Grover and Sandeep Singh alias Deepu at Vishwakarma Chowk, Ludhiana. Rano had previously paid an advance to purchase 2kg of heroin from a larger seizure of 20.326 kg on Nov 15, 2022, he said.
