from a nearby hamlet was romantically involved with the victim, who lived in a village near the BB Nagar police station. After Rakesh secretly taped a private video and used it to blackmail her, their relationship descended into abuse. When her family prepared for her to marry another man on March 3, things became more heated. Rakesh was furious and repeatedly demanded money from her while threatening to release the obscene footage.
The woman’s fiancé ended the engagement when Rakesh called him and revealed their relationship as the wedding date drew near. Devastated by the humiliation and the suffering of her family, the woman drenched herself in thinner and burned herself alive. She passed away from her wounds even though she was taken to a nearby hospital and then to Meerut for treatment.
