BJP accuses Congress of diverting attention from urgent issues

Chandigarh: Chandigarh unit of the BJP has alleged that some Congress leaders were misleading the public. The BJP members said electricity rates had not been increased in Chandigarh yet and the Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission (JERC) had organised a meeting to hear the objections of the city residents in which BJP leaders were the most vocal in objecting to the increase in rates, while Congress leaders only made allegations and counter-allegations.The BJP members added that since the INDIA bloc had come to power in the city, residents were facing some major issues.

Party’s state vice-president Shakti Prakash Devshali also termed the allegations levelled by the Chandigarh unit of Congress on the BJP as being far from the truth and said only meant to divert the attention of the public from important issues.

“Instead of protecting religious places, the Congress is playing with the religious sentiments of the people and running away from its responsibilities. The old orders, which the Congress is talking about, are also from the period 2009-2010 when Congress itself had a four-engine govt. . The BJP has always protected religious places in accordance with the sentiments of the people,” Devshali said.

Taking the Congress and the INDIA Bloc leaders to task on the issue of water, Devshali said in the rule of those who made false promises of giving 20,000 litres of free water, the fact was people were not getting water for days.
