Mohali: The district and sessions court on Thursday sentenced a man to three-year rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on him for sending child pornographic content through Facebook. Anuj Kumar, a resident of Sahnewal, Ludhiana, had transmitted a video clip of child pornography through Facebook messenger on November 27, 2020. Technical details, including IP addresses, were sought from internet service providers and social media platforms.The accused was arrested on January 13, 2022, and the mobile phone used to commit the offence was recovered.
Nilambari Jagadale, DIG, cyber crime, said publishing or transmitting material in any electronic form which depicts children engaged in sexually explicit act or conduct or creates text or digital images, collects, seeks, browses, downloads, advertises, promotes, exchanges or distributes material in any electronic form depicting children in obscene or indecent or sexually explicit manner is a punishable Act with a provision of up to five years imprisonment and a fine which may extend to Rs 10 lakh.
15-yr RI in drug case
A Chandigarh court sentenced a man to 15-year rigorous imprisonment and fined him Rs 3 lakh in a six-year-old drug case. Rohit Singla was arrested after 200 gram of charas and 26 banned injectable vials were allegedly recovered from him in Sector 45 in the city on July 12.
