A Punjabi-origin man killed his younger brother and then shot himself in Richmond Hill area of New York City, USA, on Saturday. Their mother was also grazed by a bullet.

Their relatives at Narangpur village in Punjab’s Kapurthala said the head of the family, Bhupinder Singh, had emigrated to the US four decades ago, and his family joined him a few years later.Bhupinder’s first cousin Sarabjit Singh Pappal said Bhupinder’s elder son Karamjit Singh (33) had sent his wife and three kids to his in-laws’ house in Indiana on Saturday. “Bhupinder, his wife Amarjit Kaur and son Vipan Pal Singh (27) had retired for the night around 9pm when Karamjit came home. He opened fire on Vipan. A bullet also grazed his mother,” Sarabjit said.

When cops arrived, Karamjit ran out and shot himself. “Police found him dead,” Sarabjit said, adding he wasn’t aware of the reason behind the murder but tension between the brothers may have probably led to the fratricide.
