UT adviser to administrator, Rajeev Verma reviewed the arrangements made to prevent floods and waterlogging in a meeting with the MC commissioner, deputy commissioner, chief conservator of forests, health secretary, education secretary, engineering secretary, SSP Traffic and chief engineer, MC. They briefed him about preparations made by respective departments for the monsoon season.
DC Vinay Pratap Singh said that extensive cleaning and desilting work had been done by departments concerned at Sukhna Choe, Patiala ki Rao and N-Choe to avoid last year’s flood situation.He said that prohibitory orders under Section 144 CrPC had been issued to ban entry of people and cattle in water bodies – lakes, ponds, rivers, drains etc during the monsoon to avoid drowning. He added that 315 “Aapda mitras” were being deployed by the DC office during the monsoon.
The UT adviser directed departments concerned to deploy rapid reaction teams at all three natural drains to ensure that there was no clogging of water causeways at Kishangarh, Bapu Dham, Industrial Area, Makhan Majra, Dhanas and Khudda Lahora. Directions were issued to chief engineer, UT and MC commissioner to strengthen and raise the height of water causeways on Sukhna Choe at Bapudham and Industrial Area respectively in next six months.
